| What
files can you upload?
To
extend the scope of your easisites website, there
is the facility - available by clicking the Extras
button on the gold bar at the top of the page when
you have published and paid for your site - for
you to upload as many as six extra files - effectively six extra
pages. These will appear as click-links for your visitors.
You
can use this facility to provide order forms for customers
to print out, a price list ... or anything else you can
supply a file for - even a brochure.
You
can provide the files in any format - such as Acrobat PDF files,
Microsoft Word documents and any other file type that can be read
on the web.
| Hint
Not
everyone has Microsoft Word on their computer. To be safe,
you should first use Word to Save As... and choose RTF instead
of Word Document. RTF is a universal format that almost
all word processor programs can handle. |
Important:
When your site visitor clicks for an extra file, what happens
will depend on their computer and what it can cope with. An extra
web picture will be no problem, but if your word processed document
uses fonts that your visitor doesn't also have on their PC, the
document won't display properly for them. To be safe, stick to
ordinary fonts like Times and Arial.
You
can also use the extras facility to upload additional
pictures - gif or jpg files - to display on your easisites
website.
How
to create links to your extra files
To
put a link in your "Freestyle text"
to one of your extra files, type it between angle-brackets
while you are updating your site. - Like this:
|
<easiextra3/words for your link> |
| HINT |
| Use
your mouse to highlight the example link to the left, then
Edit/Copy from the window menu.
After you Return
to editing your site you can Edit/Paste
in the Freestyle text and finish by altering the number
and words to suit your needs. |
This
would create a link to your third extra file and show it underlined
with whatever words you type after the slash. Don't type any spaces
except in the words you want underlined. If you upload a replacement
third file the link will connect to that instead. You can put
these links on any of your pages and as many times as you wish.
Example
link to an extra file

Suppose
the second extra file you uploaded were a Word Document of your
usual paper-based order form. You could refer to it in your freestyle
text like this.
This
example means "link to my extra file number 2 and do so with the
words Order Form underlined for clicking".

Your
web visitors will see it as a normal click link.
