Grabbing
images from Internet to upload onto your easisite
'Borrowing'
images from other web sites
So
long as you know you are not infringing copyright, this is dead easy.
Just go to the web site you want to take a picture from, use
your mouse to position the pointer over the picture then right click
and 'Save Picture As...'.
You
can call the picture file anything you like - so long as you save it
either as a 'JPEG (*.jpg)' or 'GIF (*.gif)' - and save it into any folder
you like on your PC (for example in 'My Documents').
Then
go to your easisite web site, click the update link and type in your
password.
Once
you are in 'edit' mode click to select or change picture. Then choose
Upload your own picture
and follow the instructions:
Step 1
Use the 'Browse' button to select the picture file on your computer.
Go
to the folder where you have saved your picture, click on the picture
and 'Open'. The picture file name will then appear in the 'Browse'
box. Then...
Step 2
Use the 'Upload' button to send it to your web site
And
that's that!
Just
make sure you choose pictures that are roughly the right size and shape
- unless you feel confident about using a drawing program to adjust
them. (Note: easisites displays images as a square between 200
and 300 pixels across.)
Search
engine image search facilities
AltaVista
and Google have extensive photo catalogues.
Both
have an 'Images' link at the top of the page. Just click on it and type
in whatever you want a picture of (for example, 'machinery') and click
on 'Search'.
Whatever
you type in, you're bound to have any number of thumbnails to choose
from.
When
you've chosen, click on your choice (through to the originating site)
and just follow the instructions above.
