Sent: 20/07/2010 easisites newsletter#20 July 2010 Hi all Welcome to Google Caffeine... Google now works in a different way so that searches now include all that social media stuff I referred to in a past newsletter. Sad but true. And, like Big Brother, it's live. Publishing articles is also up and coming, it seems. Some companies are now employing full time SEO (search engine optimisation) people - just to write articles and blogs and all the other gubbins (twitter and facebook, et al) to boost their rankings on Google. But, if you are going to write an article, what are you to write? And what are you going to say on your blog (or twitter or facebook)? As I recently told Carol Jakeman of www.elmsted-court-farm.co.uk, don't ask me. === Thinking forensically, however (as I also told Carol)... Write about what's happening, what the sheep are doing, how beautiful the views are, what flowers are out - stuff that makes people want to come to you. You could also be cunning... Went to Dover today. Only took twenty minutes. Went to Canterbury. Only took 20 minutes. Guests arrived today from Paris. They came on the Eurostar. It only took 20 minutes. Ashford market was really busy today. Lots of stalls. Picked up some real bargains. Then went to Luigi's for lunch - the best spag bog in Kent... That way you give people an idea of the whole location. Never talk about bad stuff - bad stuff never happens at Elmsted Court (where the beautiful people go and the sun always shines and lambs are lambs forever). === In other words, if you are going to blog and twitter and all that other stuff, do it in a way that makes people want what you've got - so that when they read what you've written they want to stay at your place or buy your products or use your services. If you'd like any help with any of this, let us know. We won't charge an arm and a leg, but we will charge. And if you've heard someone twittering about Google Mayday, you can find out more here http://searchengineland.com/google-confirms-mayday-update-impacts-long-tail-traffic-43054 and listen to Google's Matt Cutts downplay it here http://www.graphicalliance.co.uk/blog/how-will-googles-mayday-update-affect-you/ And that's as much as I'm going to say about it. ===== Your feedback, as always, would be welcome. Any comments or questions, please get back to me. Best Wishes. Regards,
