Sent: 07 December 2004 17:16 Subject: easisites newsletter#7, December 2004 It has been over a year, I know, since our last newsletter, but there have been reasons for this.  To anyone who has tried to contact me personally in 2004, I apologise for not responding.  I have been otherwise engaged.  I’m back now, though – and I bring glad tidings (well, ‘tidings’, anyway). Since the last newsletter, as some of you may have noticed, we have introduced a number of enhancements to easisites: Lost passwords.  If you have lost your password, click "update this page" – as you would normally do for updating your website and follow the link to have it immediately emailed to you.  This is totally secure because the system only emails the address already held for you as the site owner - it never displays the password over the web.  If your email address has changed you can still email or give us a call.  Of course, we'll have to verify your identity before releasing the password.  You wouldn’t want just anybody tampering with your websites! Instant Help New customers are unsure about what to type into the boxes on their web site.  Now when creating or updating your site you will find Instant Help boxes appear as you mouse over the entry areas.  This saves you opening the normal help panel.  Experienced users can switch this feature off in the "Options" page (see below). Image Uploading Previously you had to prepare square images so they fitted your web site.  This is no longer the case.  You can upload any shape - square, wide rectangle or tall rectangle and the easisites system will present it properly.  You still have to upload only web-compatible image types of JPG, GIF or PNG.  Digital cameras normally produce JPG files so you can upload those images OK. Picture Magnifier On your published web site, your uploaded images may look a bit small.  If the easisites system detects that the image carries more detail it automatically provides a magnified version when people move their mouse over the picture. In Development: Options You will soon find a gold Options button when you update your site.  You'll be able to use it to alter the behaviour of different easisites features.  In addition to turning the Instant Help on or off... More pages You will be able to use the Options button to increase the number of site pages from the standard six.  We know many people won't want more than six pages, so you will soon have the option of having as many as 24 pages.  We will be charging extra if you do opt for more pages - +£50 p.a. for 7 to 12 pages, +£100 p.a. for 13 to 18, +£150 p.a. for 19 to 24 pages. "Inline Pictures" Many site owners have requested the ability to have more pictures on each page.  This will become possible as soon as we have devised an easy (as befits our name of easisites) way for you to do it.  This will not be an extra cost feature. We will let you know as soon as these developments are up and running. Also, for information, we are currently working on a facelift for the easisites websites – www.easisites.co.uk and www.kent-esites.co.uk - which we feel is a great improvement.  This should be online by Christmas…   On which subject, let me extend the compliments of the season and wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year! Please, if you have any feedback or comments on any of the above – or on anything else - let me know.  (Note the change of phone number.)   Regards,   Glyn Debnam Ekos Consulting Limited 01474 532886 www.easisites.co.uk www.kent-esites.co.uk   A quick reminder:   *As indicated in newsletter#6, you can now sell online via your easisites website.  You’ll find newsletter#6 on www.easi-info.co.uk   *If you recommend easisites to someone, we will send you £15 - provided they subsequently build and pay for their own site.   If you do recommend someone, either send us an email or visit your site to do an update and, after entering your password, use the facility to tell us who you referred.   Just think, if you refer just 4 new customers each year you'll more than cover your annual site fee!
